HOW TO USE PORTFORWARD

Before we start there are some things we need to Know.

Static IP why do I need this mines Dynamic.

You can look at this in simple terms, Your IP is like your Zip/Postcode it gives a general location within an area, the Port is like your house Number it gives Exact location. so if the IP was your house address and that kept changing you would never get your letters.

The reason you need a static IP is that it will not change and the port forwarded ports will always have the right IP address to goto.

Also the rule is one application per port(s) running at the same time so while you could set Bitcomet and Utorrent on the same port they cannot run at the same time.

What does my Router do.

The router acts like a post office it forwards the mail to a general local area post office for further sorting. rejecting

any mail that does not belong in that area and dropping or forwarding as required .

What do I need to achieve this.

your Ip address ----> Based on your Default Gateway Address.
your Default Gateway ----> IP address to access your router obtained from your manual or from the Web Address that follows.

your DNS Address ----> the DNS server from your ISP

then link routers
pick your router
pick your Bittorent client.

Click Start then run Type Cmd then click ok
at the prompt Documents and Settings/user>

Altough this says there is (DHCP=Dynamic Host configuration Protocol) Dynamic ip availiable this has a static IP.

So i now Have the Info I need.

Now to set up static ip address

Click start
Click network connections
rightclick local area connection
goto properties
click on internet protocol tcp/ip
click properties
Select use following ip address

IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.2.2 ----> Any number from 2 to 254 can be used
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . .: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . : 192.168.2.1 ----> Web configuration Address of router
DHCP Server . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.2.1
DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . : 194.168.8.100
194.168.4.100

NoW to set up the Ports. LIBITINA allow 30000-65535

open ìTorrent.
Click Options
Click preferences
Click network options
Port used for incoming connections 49500

untick UPNP to disable

now open internet explorer
in address bar type 192.168.2.1

In the box that opens.
p........word: ---> this Router by default has no p........word
click submit

Now to setup Port Forwarding

Left hand Panel Beneath Firewall
click Virtual servers
Games and application sharing
create new game or or application
manual entry of ports

Lan ip trigger protocol Lan port Public Port

192.168.2.2 UDP&TCP 49500 49500 tick enable


If you Have Service Pack 2 (XP SP2) you will need to set up an exception.

Click Start
Click Control Panel
Click Switch to cl........ic view
Click Windows Firewall
UnTick Dont allow exceptions
click Exceptions Tab
Click add port
fill in required data
click ok

reboot pc and router

you should now find yourself connectable once there is data for the tracker to see.
if no data you will see Connectable: Waiting
